Give steps to compute HRA at @20% of basic pay or Rs.3000 whichever is less, and DA is 70% of basic pay rounded to nearest 10 in column C and D respectively.(Excel-2007)


In a worksheet, names are entered in columns A2:A51 and corresponding Basic Pay are entered in columns B2:B51. In column C and D you want to fill HRA and DA. Give steps to compute HRA at @20% of basic pay or Rs.3000 whichever is less, and DA is 70% of basic pay rounded to nearest 10 in column C and D respectively.

To compute HRA in column C,
Enter the formula,
=MIN(B2*20%,3000) in cell C2 and then press enter key,
using the fill handle of cell C2, copy the formula to cells C3 :C51 by dragging the fill handle up to cell C51.

To compute dA in column d,
Enter the formula,
=ROUND(B2*70%,-1) in cell D2 and then press enter key,
using the fill handle of cell D2, copy the formula to cells D3 :D51 by dragging the fill handle up to cell D51.
